Dylan Painton
Dylan's roots in grappling run deep. He began wrestling in second grade growing up in New Jersey, going on to accumulate over 100 wins throughout his high school career, place fourth in the state for his weight class, and wrestle Division 1 at Rutgers University. After his collegiate career ended, his hunger to compete never did.
Dylan took to MMA and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu immediately after his collegiate career, excelling in both. He earned two amateur MMA victories and holds a black belt in BJJ, with multiple tournament wins against fellow black belts. Today, his competitive focus is exclusively on BJJ.
Professionally, Dylan works in the global technology department of a Fortune 100 company, driving the transformation of how business and IT work together. His work centers on improving the operational processes behind strategy development and execution. Ensuring that initiatives are well-managed and deliver real, measurable value.
Jason Lopez
Jason's athletic roots trace back to the Tampa Bay area, where he developed a passion for sports at a young age. It was at eleven, however, that he found his true calling when he walked into Cherry's Boxing Club. He dedicated the next seven years of his life to the sport before a shoulder injury brought his boxing career to an early end.
A decade later, a path toward law enforcement led Jason through the doors of a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gym. And it stuck immediately. Seven years later, he holds the rank of Purple Belt, a reflection of the same wholehearted commitment he has brought to every pursuit in his life.
That commitment is perhaps best illustrated by his military career. Jason is a U.S. Army veteran with over 15 years of service, having operated in high-pressure environments across Southeast Asia and Cuba with a focus on operations, strategy, and regulatory compliance. Decorated multiple times for professionalism, performance, and heroism, he developed the leadership and communication skills that have defined every role he has held since.
Those qualities carried directly into law enforcement. Jason has seven years of experience as a Deputy with an agency in the Tampa Bay area, where he served on the Strategic Targeted Area Response (STAR) Team, specializing in street crimes and fugitive apprehension. Recently promoted to Corporal within the training division, he now serves as a lead instructor teaching deputies in firearms and defensive tactics. Jason brings a rare combination of real-world experience and teaching expertise to everything Defensive Dynamics does.
